Jennifer Gonzalez is the host and creator of the Cult of Pedagogy, a website and podcast focused on providing resources and support for educators. Before creating the website, she spent seven years teaching middle school language arts, with half of that time spent in the greater D.C. area and the other half in southcentral Kentucky. In 2004, Jennifer earned National Board Certification but decided to leave teaching after having her first child to be a stay-at-home mom.
In 2008, Jennifer was hired by a local university to teach pre-service teachers, which reignited her passion for preparing and supporting educators. While in the classroom, she often felt alone in her passion for teaching and found it difficult to connect with others in the teachers' lounge. She learned to stifle her enthusiasm for new teaching strategies and her struggles with students for fear of being met with sarcasm.
Jennifer created the Cult of Pedagogy website to provide a vibrant, encouraging, and stimulating community of teachers who can support each other towards excellence. She believes that if teachers can reach across the limits of geography and find each other, there's no limit to the amazing things they can accomplish. Through her website and podcast, Jennifer strives to create a safe and inclusive space where teachers can share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment or criticism.
