Mr. Nesi goes to Alabama!

At the end of August I had the priviledge of being invited to Oxford City Schools, Alabama where I got to visit Oxford High School!

This opportunity was presented to me because I accepted an invitation from listener Adam Clark, who teaches social studies at OHS, to join a Voxer group with his colleagues to coach them in their pursuit of creating podcasts.

My visit was a surprise, up until the day before, and I have to thank Khristie Goodwin, Curriculum Coordinator, for reaching out to me and giving me the opportunity to speak with these great educators in person and to also meet with and speak with OHS students about the power of creation.

Krista Penrod is an 8th grade Language Arts teacher in Wisconsin. Mrs. Penrod is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. She also has her MA in Teaching Learning & Assessment.

Krista is all about “embracing the freak out” and we talk about her journey in education as she prepares to move to a new house, start a job at a new school, and work with Chromebooks for the first time after previously teaching in a 1:1 iPad school.

HEATH M. HARMON – Mr. Harmon is currently the Principal at Oxford High School in Alabama and a former secondary English and History teacher.

Mr. Harmon enjoys the many opportunities to grow and develop professionally that are available in Oxford City Schools. He enjoys staying current on educational issues and helping teachers and staff be the best they can be. Mr. Harmon strives for all students to be successful. Harmon believes that all means all. He enjoys reading and blogging and any opportunity to collaborate with other education professionals.

He is happily married to Holley and Holley teaches AP Literature and Composition at Oxford High School as well as adjunct English at Gadsden State Community College. They have two children.

Outside of school, Mr. Harmon and his family are involved with their local church spend much of their time watching their children play sports. Mr. Harmon enjoys watching professional and college football and traveling with his family.
