Derek Larson and Jen Giffen both attended ISTE 2017 in San Antonio, Texas and both are here sharing their experiences from the conference.
Derek was selected as an ISTE Ignite speaker and Jen was one of four people selected from her district in Canada to attend the conference.
Their major takeaway was that conferences are still relevant but not for learning. Conferences provide the most value in providing the opportunity to have those valuable face to face meetings and make genuine connections with others.
CADE SOMERS AND MICHELLE SHELTON – Cade is a Hoosier at heart, transplanted in the beautiful Appalachian foothills of east-central Alabama. He’s lived a life of change, with previous work in ministry and management. Cade is now committed to ministering to and managing the minds of high schoolers as an English teacher, Instructional designer, e-Learning instructor, Ed Tech enthusiast, Basketball coach, Husband, Dad.
Michelle has taught English for over seventeen years. Over the course of her career as an educator, she has taught at both the junior high and high school levels. She earned her M.A. in Secondary Education and Educational Specialist degree from the University of Alabama. Along with Cade, Michelle currently teaches English at Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama. She periodically blogs about life as an educator at Bloggin’ in the Rain.
